KASTA Middle-Level
State-Wide Orchestra
The KASTA Statewide Middle-Level Orchestra is an annual orchestral event for 7th and 8th grade instrumentalists. It is not an "Honor Orchestra" in the purest sense of the word, but is intended to be a "mountain top experience" that inspires and encourages.
Kansas Intercollegiate
Orchestra
The Kansas Intercollegiate Orchestra (KIO) is an auditioned symphonic orchestral ensemble of college-age instrumentalists from Kansas. The KIO performs at the KMEA In-Service workshop every other year, alternating with Kansas Intercollegiate Band (KIB).
KASTA Solo
Competition
The KASTA State Solo Competition recognizes exceptionally talented Kansas string performers at three levels: the Preparatory Division (up to Grade 8 and below), Junior Division (Grades 9-12), and the Senior Division (college/university students 29-years-old or younger).
KASTA Summer Middle
School Orchestra
The KASTA Summer Middle School Orchestra meets concurrent to the KASTA String Teacher Workshop and is for Middle School Students with the capability of performing Grade 2 repertoire.
KASTA Summer Conference
The KASTA Summer Conference provides string teachers of all levels and genres with professional development. The Conference is held annually at Wichita State University and features presentations from nationally renowned pedagogues.
KASTA Private String Studio Summit
The KASTA Private String Studio Summit provides private string instructors in Kansas with the opportunity to gather, connect, and share ideas about pedagogy and passion in private teaching.
